Who We Are
We began in September 2008 as part of the College Park Church of the Nazarene. Through the years, our work has been a community effort supported by other faith organizations, municipal governments, businesses, and many individuals from College Park and surrounding communities.
Our first food distribution provided meals to 13 families, and before the pandemic on a typical month, we served 100 families. Since the pandemic began, we’ve been serving more than ten times the families we normally serve in a month. Like most food banks in 2020, we hit record numbers. But in 2021 we set a new record by serving 15,425 families—62,625 individuals.
To better reflect our broad community support, in 2021 we became an independent nonprofit, recognized as a 501(c)3 organization by the IRS. The Church of the Nazarene continues to host us.
We are a community food bank in two important ways: The community supports us with vital donations of money, food items, and volunteers. And we help any person or family in need of food.
We don’t accomplish this alone. Thanks a million to our donors, volunteers, and partners! Your ongoing commitment makes it possible to fulfill our mission!
